Certified translation near me

What does a certified translation service do?

We deliver fully accurate literal translations of your documents in the language pair your request, together with a certificate of accuracy.

As defined by the ATA, a certified translated document should be delivered accompanied by a written statement signed by a professional translator attesting to the accuracy and completeness of the translation. This affidavit is also known as a “certificate of accuracy”. It is issued by the translator or language service provider who translated the document. It guarantees that the work meets the highest professional standards.

To be able to certify a translation It is essential that the translation be a word-for-word (or literal) translated copy of the entire visible content in order to comply with all the requirements. Translators are not allowed to add/delete elements or to interpret the meaning of the source document.

Official translation and document legalization in Thailand

When you need to have a document translated for official purposes in Thailand, you’ll need to go through the legalization process at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).  In most cases, this happens when you need a document legalized so that you can use it overseas, such as a marriage certificate or a birth certificate.

You must first submit the original document and a certified copy of the translation to the MFA in Bangkok or Phuket. where it will be reviewed and stamped as required for official procedures.

When you work with our company, we will be of course to handle the translation and certification process for you and can also submit the document to the MFA on your behalf. Otherwise, you’ll need to follow the steps below to get your document legalized by yourself:
  • Obtain a professional translation of the original document
  • Submit the original document and the translation to the consular section of the MFA.
  • The MFA will review the documents and affix their stamp and legalize it.
  • You're all set! Your document is now legalized and can be used for official purposes in Thailand.
It is important to note that the translated copy must be an accurate translation of the original document. Any errors in the translation could result in delays or even the rejection of your application.

Keep in mind that, in some cases, you may also need to have your document legalized at the embassy or consulate of the country where you will be using it. For example, if you are applying for a visa to enter the United States, you will need to have your document legalized at the U.S. embassy or consulate in Thailand.

If you are unsure of how to go about legalizing a document, you can contact our project managers who will assist you. They will be able to advise you on the necessary steps and help ensure that your document is properly legalized.

Are online certified translations acceptable everywhere?

The Thai MFA will not accept digital document print-outs and requires originals.
In many other instances, official translations into another language can be issued online. The only difference is that the document is not delivered as a hard copy but as an Acrobat pdf file. It will still be signed and stamped and attached to a statement made by the translator attesting that the translation is complete and accurate.

Foreign government agencies and other organizations that require translations will often accept translations from online services. So whether you need a translation for personal or business purposes, getting it done online is a great option.

When choosing an online service, be sure to select one that is reliable and has a good reputation. Also, be sure to check the reviews to get an idea of the quality of the service. simply upload your document(s), receive a free quote, and have your translation completed in no time. It’s that easy!

Resources

Professional translators have access to resources that can help them translate your document accurately. These resources include dictionaries, glossaries, and other reference materials.

Does certifying a translation require a certified translator?

Although their titles are almost identical, there are distinctions between these two terms. A translator who is said to be certified is a professional who has passed a qualifying exam to verify his or her competence to translate into a certain language. However, not all languages are subject to a certification exam, and not every country or project requires translators to be certified. The term “certified translation”, on the other hand, refers to a signed statement attesting to the accuracy of the translation, and can be produced by any qualified translator, or a language solutions partner (LSP).

What's the difference between certification and notarization of a translation?

There’s often confusion surrounding these two terms. Though both involve signing and stamping by a professional, there are key distinctions between the two. Here, we’ll clarify the differences between the two and when you might require each, and how to go about getting either kind of translation.

When you need a translation of a legal or official document, you may be asked to have it handled by a professional service. The translator will then include a signed statement attesting to the accuracy of the translation, as well as their credentials and contact details. y doing so, they are certifying the quality of their work and the translated document itself.

A notarized translation, on the other hand, is one that’s been signed and stamped by a notary public. Notarization is usually required for official documents that will be used in another country. The notary public confirms the translator’s identity and credentials, and they also sign and stamp the translation. The notarized translation will be accompanied by a signed statement from the notary public.

So, when do you need a translation to be notarized? The answer may vary depending on the type of document and the institution or government that you are submitting it to, but we have compiled a short list of common scenarios for both situations.

When is a certified translation enough:

  • Academic documents: College applications, transcripts, diplomas, etc.
  • Immigration documents
  • Employment documents: Job applications, resumes, contracts, etc.

When is a notarized translation required:

  • civil status certificates
  • Marriage licenses
  • Divorce decrees
  • Adoption papers
  • Wills
  • Power of attorney documents

However, it’s always best to check with the desired institution to see if they require a certified or notarized translation of your specific document.
