Knowledge Box: Matching Names Across Thai Identity Documents
Thai names may appear in English differently across a passport, ID-card translation, bank record, and earlier civil documents.
Send the passport or the receiving authority’s preferred English spelling when available. We use that spelling consistently and flag material differences before certification.
If a name changed, include the name change, marriage, or divorce document that connects the old and current records.
Workflow: Upload Both Sides, Translate, Check, Deliver
Both sides of the card are reviewed before the translation scope and identity spelling are confirmed.
Send Front, Back & Passport
Upload clear colour images of both sides of the ID card. Include the passport or preferred English name spelling when available.
Quote & Requirement Check
We confirm the price, turnaround, certification format, and whether any supporting house book or name-change document should be translated with the card.
Translation & Identity QA
The translator prepares the card details. A second reviewer checks the citizen ID, names, address, dates, issuing authority, and consistency with supplied records.
Certification & Delivery
We add the certification statement, company seal, and translator signature. Digital copies are delivered by email; hard copies can be arranged.

Certified vs. Legalized: Which Do You Need?
Different authorities ask for different certification levels. The receiving authority’s checklist controls.
Certified Translation
Translation with a certification statement, translator signature, and company seal. This may be sufficient for many visa, banking, employment, education, and administrative submissions, subject to the receiving authority’s requirements.
- Visa and immigration support
- Employer and professional records
- Bank and customer verification
- Family and civil-document files
- Some embassy submissions, subject to authority requirements
Cost: Translation price only
MFA Legalized Translation
Certified translation plus any required notarization and Ministry of Foreign Affairs authentication. This is used only when the receiving authority requires it.
- Authority-specific overseas government filings
- Selected cross-border civil procedures
- Some court or notarial matters
- Submissions expressly requiring MFA authentication
- Cases requiring embassy processing after MFA
Cost: Translation + applicable notarization and government fees
Thai ID Card Translation: Both Sides, Cost, and Official Use
- How much does Thai ID card translation cost?+
Translation of both sides of a standard Thai ID card into English is 750 THB, including certification, second-reviewer checking, company seal, and digital delivery.
- Do you translate both sides of the ID card?+
Both sides are translated so the receiving authority can review the complete card record, including citizen ID, names, address information, dates, and issuing details.
- How long does Thai ID card translation take?+
Most clear Thai ID cards are completed within 24 hours. Same-day service may be available after we check the source image and current translator queue.
- Should the English name match my passport?+
Where possible, the English name should match your passport. Send the passport or the spelling required by the receiving authority. We use that spelling consistently and identify differences that may need a supporting name-change record.
- Can you translate an expired or older Thai ID card?+
Older cards can be translated when they are readable and relevant to the submission. They can be useful for identity history, but the receiving authority decides whether it will accept an expired document.
- Does a Thai ID card translation need MFA legalization?+
Often a certified translation is sufficient, but requirements vary by receiving authority and purpose. If MFA legalization or additional notarization is expressly required, we will quote it separately.
